Plastics are a group of materials, either synthetic or naturally occurring that may be shaped when soft and then hardened to retain the given shape. The chemicals used in the production of plastic are toxic and detrimental to the human body. These toxins can cause cancers, congenital disabilities, immune system problems etc.
Because of harmful effects of plastic it is really important to reduce the production of plastic and reusing waste plastic products by converting them into useful products.
Recycling of plastic is the method of gathering waste plastic and reconverting them to new useful plastic products. The process involves following steps :-
Collection :-
This step involves collecting the plastic material that is to be recycled. It is extremely important to separate common waste and plastic waste.
Sorting :-
Plastic is usually sorted sorted out on the basis of type of plastic, color of the plastic, or even how it was made. This is important because if the wrong type of plastic is processed at the incorrect facility it can reduce the efficiency of the whole process.
Resizing :-
Resizing consists of shredding or granulating the plastic waste into small particles. This increases the surface area of the plastic, making it easier to process, reshape, and transport if needed.
Separation of plastic based on density :-
Particles of plastic can be separated from each other on the basis of there density. Particles less dense than water will float and more dense particles will sink.
Compounding :-
Compounding is when the small particles are smashed and melted together into plastic pellets. The pellets can then be used in the production of other plastic products.
Recycling of plastic is the method of gathering waste plastic and reconverting them to new useful plastic products. The following are the systemic steps of recycling paper. (1) Collection (2) Sorting (3) Separation of plastic based on density (4) Compounding Arrange the steps in proper order.
